Ethoxyquin ELISA Test Kit
REAGEN™ Ethoxyquin ELISA Test Kit is a competitive enzyme immunoassay for the quantitative analysis of ethoxyquin in fish, shrimp, feed and meat. Ethoxyquin is a quinoline-based antioxidant used as a food preservative and a pesticide. To date, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration () has only found a verifiable connection between ethoxyquin and buildup of protoporphyrin IX in the liver, as well as elevations in liver-related enzymes in some animals, but there are no known health consequences from these effects. In Japan, the ethoxyquin content must not be higher than 10 ppb in shrimp, 1 ppm in fish.
The REAGEN™ ethoxyquin ELISA Test Kit enables international and government regulatory agencies, food manufacturers and processors, as well as quality assurance organizations, to detect ethoxyquin in fish, shrimp to satisfy customer’s concerns about food safety.
1. High recovery (>75%) and cost-effective extraction methods
2. High sensitivity (0.1 ng/g or ppb)
3. Quick ELISA assay (less than 2 hours regardless of the number of samples)
4. High reproducibility
The method is based on a competitive colorimetric ELISA assay. The ethoxyquin conjugate has been coated in the plate wells. During the analysis, a sample is added along with the primary antibody specific for ethoxyquin. If the target is present in the sample, it will compete for the antibody, thereby preventing the antibody from binding to the ethoxyquin attached to the wells. The secondary antibody, tagged with a peroxidase enzyme, targets the primary antibody associated with the ethoxyquin coated on the plate wells. The resulting color intensity, after addition of substrate, has an inverse relationship with the target concentration in the sample.
